BUSINESS WITH UKRAINE there are numerous myths functioning about business with the countries like Russia or Ukraine. There still exist among our businessmen the stereotype of a “wild East”. It is, in my opinion, completely untrue. It is worth to draw attention to the perfectly well informed western companies, which somehow do not have any reservations before investing in Ukraine. One can find ordinary dishonesty in every country of the world – the cure is to apply professional procedures of conduct binding in the civilized world. Besides, businessmen in Ukraine are perfectly aware of the existence of such stereotype and they try to apply to it their behavior during the contacts with businessmen from abroad. There are of course certain culture backgrounds. Persons who wish to make business in Ukraine should do it in person – here one builds up the trust upon personal contacts. One has to be also aware that in Ukraine the joining of the worlds of business and policy is particularly strong. These are however not obstacles to make the business, but rather a local specificity. . |
